Active Ingredient: ROSUVASTATINE
Rosuvastatin (a HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor) can block hERG potassium currents and exhibits a modest adverse effect on cardiac repolarization. In a comparative population study (ChiCTR2400092701), patients receiving rosuvastatin showed a mean QTc increase of 6.57 ms from baseline, whereas those on atorvastatin saw a decrease of 0.83 ms. Rosuvastatin was associated with a 42% increased risk of newly emerged QT prolongation (95% CI 1.10–1.85, p=0.008). Clinicians should consider the potential for additive effects when combining rosuvastatin with other QT-prolonging agents.
