Active Ingredient: DEGARELIX

QTc Interval Status:

Clinical Description (Database Summary)

Degarelix (a GnRH antagonist) has no intrinsic effect on cardiac repolarization. In a thorough QT crossover study of 80 healthy men, a supratherapeutic IV dose (2.8 mg, achieving 3× the therapeutic Cmax) showed no clinically significant QTcF prolongation (max upper 95% CI: 3.5 ms, well below the 10 ms threshold). Preclinical data also confirm no hERG channel blockade. Note: While androgen deprivation therapy as a whole is associated with QT prolongation (10–20 ms) due to low testosterone levels, this study proves that the degarelix molecule itself is not cardiotoxic.
